In the past two decades, social media has completely uprooted and overturned the world as we know it. It impacts everything from news and journalism, to politics and elections, to the handling of human rights crises and natural disasters.
This means that the interactions fostered on these platforms play significant roles in these areas too.
WHO ARE WE?
We are a politically neutral advocacy nonprofit group with the goal of creating reflective and engaging online conversations regarding the importance of media literacy.
WHAT IS OUR ROLE ONLINE?
Our platform will be used to share posts that encourage engagement in media literacy practices, share tips on how to be spot misleading information online, and raise awareness about why you should care about what you share with your online audience.
WHAT IS OUR MISSION?
We acknowledge that Sharing Isn't Caring does not have the capacity to eradicate misinformation on social media. Especially with factors such as algorithms and the goals driving social media platforms and sensationalism or click-bait in the news industry.
Instead, we aim to raise awareness of the issue and advocate for behaviours that work to mitigate this problem by getting social media users to consume online content more critically.
