WHO ARE WE

Sometimes Sharing

Isn't Caring...

As trust in mainstream media has reportedly declined, people have turned to their online circles to vouch for the information. Media literacy is critical – now more than ever.

We are here, finding our voice online, to explain why sometimes sharing things online isn't always caring for your audience, nor the greater social media ecosystem.

Have you ever shared a link or statistic without fact-checking it? Don't worry, you're not alone. In fact, 1 in 4 adults in the USA admitted that they have shared a fabricated news story on social media at some point in time.

We started Sharing Isn't Caring to advocate and raise awareness about media literacy. To get people to think more critically about what they consume online.

WHAT WE DO

Working Platforms

From Within.

The best way to spread our message about media literacy on social media, is to involve ourselves and find a voice within these platforms.

We use our Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and this very website and blog to:

  • Share facts about media literacy, defining key terminology and providing tips to become more literate.

  • Share examples of misinformation online and identify recent or on-going cases of rumours or misleading/false information.

  • Provide information on engaging in critical consumption.

  • Direct our audience to credible fact-checking sources.
